LuminX at GRIHA Summit, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The 16th GRIHA Summit held in Delhi on 4th & 5th of December was an important event that brought together architects, builders, and environmental experts. Energy demand and emissions from buildings constitute over a fifth of global emissions. The goal of the conference was to explore ways to make buildings more eco-friendly by using materials that are better for the planet. As India’s cities grow quickly, the conference focused on finding solutions to make construction more sustainable and reduce its impact on the environment.

The GRIHA Summit centred on the theme of “Accelerating Climate Action in the Built Environment” aims to set the discourse to revolutionize our design processes, construction
practices, and management of urban spaces
. Aligning with the vision of becoming Viksit Bharat @2047 encompassing various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance, it serves as a platform to
deliberate on various ways to accelerate climate action. It also highlighted how to use materials that are renewable, recyclable, and locally sourced. These include materials like bamboo, recycled concrete, and sustainable wood, all of which help cut down on waste and pollution. The conference also highlighted ways to build using natural materials that help keep indoor spaces healthier, such as using low-chemical paints and good insulation.

The conference had many workshops and panel discussions, where experts showed new building technologies that save energy and resources. Topics like cool roofs, which help cool buildings, and solar panels, which provide clean energy, were given priority in sustainable architectural solutions. There were also talks about smart buildings that use technology to save electricity and reduce waste.

In addition, the event had an exhibition where companies showed off new products and materials that are both eco-friendly and efficient. It was a great chance for people in the industry to connect and share their experiences and ideas.

The conference made it clear that if we want to build better cities for the future, we need to use materials and designs that help the environment. The event helped spark conversations about how to make the building industry greener and more sustainable in the years to come.
