LuminX at IGBC Green Assam Conclave

The Green Assam Conclave was held of 26th February,2026 in Guwahati at Hotel Arista which witnessed a congregation of architects, policy makers, administrators, town planners ,brand mangers etc. This was one of a kind event for the north eastern part of the country.Already in it’s second edition, Green Assam Conclave aims to bring scale with sustainability to projects in the environmentally fragile north eastern part of the country.

The event began with a keynote address by IAS Jeevan B, honourable secretary to Ministry of Housing and Urban Development , Assam government. Mr Jeevan highlighted the impact of various government projects in the region: the scope and scale of development for the region . He also talked about the integration of various stakeholders in initiating policy level changes, keeping in mind the diverse and ecologically sensitive areas.Guwahati, which is rightly the gateway to the north east, has in the past and also continues to be in the future, the fulcrum of government’s North East policy. The city has witnessed stretches of urban development, unprecedented in the past few decades. The pressure to satiate the demand of urbanisation requires critical planning and execution. The event was also graced by Mr Abhijit Baruah, a distinguished architect of Assam who laid the principles of sustainable architecture for the region. Mr Buruah is no fan of mushrooming of concrete structures disguised as development, he stressed upon functionality to be the sine qua non of construction. His ideas about effective planning revolves around creating aggregate demand for greener technologies to be incorporated in new projects, bring awareness of greener projects to the region.David Gogoi, an entrepreneur from Assam also occupied the dias. David started his company back in his college days where he conceptualised to integrate recycling, not as a repurpose instrument down the value chain but a point of forward linkage giving rise to an entry point in manufacturing. His company creates green bricks by integrating waste products and has been massively successful in the region where traditional brick kiln’s deleterious effects were massive. David has been able to cater to the twin demand of strength and durability in his product, vis a vis traditional red bricks. His innovation has a massive impact as far as sustainability is concerned, green bricks offers the requisite strength to withstand load, is made from recylable materials and stands to solve the mining issue which is a big threat to the ecosystem of north east with narrowing river beds and unchecked excavations for sand, used for the manufacturing of traditional bricks. Let’s hope David’s company Zerund scales the production to meet the burgeoning demand.LuminX stands firmly with the philosophy of greening the ecosystem in the construction sector. The north Eastern states, stand at a greater risk due to rising temperatures as compared to the rest of the country. Cooling demand has peaked in the recent decade and requires an immediate focus.

LuminX was also instrumental in the logistics workshop conducted, the first of it’s kind in the region. The workshop conducted by Mr Saurabh Choudhury, distinguished IGBC logistics manager for the east. He spoke about Guwahati emerging as the hub for regional development in the area. Limited by the geographical terrain of the region, robust railway connectivity in the region still remains a challenge. Despite the opening of some stand alone stations, Guwahati remains the bustling hub. Mr Choudhury also highlighted the importance of multimodal parks in logistics integration. Logistic boom is often corresponded with the emergence of transshipment hubs, warehouse networks, delivery points and large godowns. All of these structures have a perennial problem of heating up in summers. The tropical climate of assam becomes unforgiving during peak summers which has a bearing on worker’s productivity in the region. LuminX is committed to solve such issues by bringing temperatures down, galvanising worker’s productivity and reducing energy consumption for these structures. In consonance with the Prime Minister’s vision of an integrated and developed north east, collaboration with all stakeholders is paramount.
