The Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai hosted the 23rd edition of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) from November 27–29, 2024, in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. Considered Asia’s premier platform for sustainability, this three-day event drew over 5,000 architects, planners, policymakers, developers, consultants, and innovators from across the globe under one roof. It was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s IGBC in partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The event showcased more than a thousand eco-friendly technologies, green products, and future-ready sustainability models. On the very first day, IGBC unveiled the latest version of its Green New Buildings Rating System, which incorporates carbon accounting, zero water discharge norms, and greenhouse gas incentive mechanisms to align with global standards. The session also highlighted embodied carbon baselines—the country’s first such report—underscoring resilient design strategies in line with Mumbai’s role as a sustainability vanguard amid rapid urbanisation.
Amid these developments, LuminX—a trailblazing Indian company specialising in solar reflective paints—emerged as a spotlight exhibitor. Located at Stall No. 39, the LuminX booth attracted immediate attention through live demonstrations of its cooling solutions. With a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 120, among the highest in its category, this water-based elastomeric coating reflects up to 90% of incoming UV and infrared radiation, reducing roof surface temperatures by up to 20°C and indoor temperatures by 5–8°C. The booth became a focal point for discussions around passive cooling—widely recognised as a low-hanging yet highly impactful solution for India’s heat-stressed cities. LuminX representatives showcased real-world case studies, including a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Kolkata where cooling loads were reduced by 30%.

Aligned with IGBC’s strong emphasis on material circularity and low-carbon pathways, LuminX’s eco-friendly profile—with low volatile organic compound (VOC) formulations—resonated strongly with the event’s sustainability ethos. In addition to its solar reflective cool roof coatings, LuminX also showcased a range of complementary innovations, including ReflectOn high-albedo sheets, Madico energy-efficient glass films, and HeiQ Xpectra transparent infrared-reflective coatings.
ReflectOn is a high-albedo reflective sheet designed to enhance the efficiency of bifacial solar panels by reflecting direct and diffused sunlight back onto the panels, thereby maximising energy output. Madico energy-efficient glass films, available in multiple variants, cater to diverse cooling and insulation needs across building types. HeiQ Xpectra further enhances building energy efficiency by reducing heat transfer through walls. Together, these products demonstrate the substantial temperature reductions achievable through integrated passive cooling solutions.

The event’s insistence on carbon-neutral execution—powered by renewable energy and low-waste protocols—closely aligned with LuminX’s corporate ethos. Over the course of three days of networking and knowledge exchange, LuminX secured partnerships with several developers planning greenfield projects. The event reaffirmed that sustainable transitions are no longer optional but essential, and innovations presented by LuminX showcased a clear pathway toward building a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.
